1 Director 50 Posters operates on an annual cycle, structured around the selection of a featured director, an institutional partnership, and the production of a curated exhibition. Each edition culminates in a public show, supported by digital extensions, print materials, and public programming.
The project sustains itself through a hybrid revenue model that includes:
-
Submission fees from open-call entries
-
Ticket sales from in-person exhibition visitors
-
Poster sales commissions via digital and print-on-demand formats
-
Catalog sales and other merchandise
-
Event admissions for panels, screenings, and talks
-
Sponsorships and institutional partnerships with festivals and cultural organizations
This model is designed to be repeatable and scalable. Each edition can be adapted to different contexts through collaborations with film festivals, arthouse cinemas, distributors, or streaming platforms. These partnerships allow the exhibition to reach diverse audiences and take on new forms—whether physical, digital, or hybrid.
The long-term goal is to establish a permanent presence—both physical and digital—that archives each year’s collection and provides ongoing engagement through publications, grants, and curated programs.
