Submission

To build the collection of 50 posters, we launched an open call for submissions, inviting designers from around the world to interpret Lynch’s filmography through one of the four curatorial themes. The submission process was hosted on the project’s website and promoted through design communities, academic networks, and social media platforms.

Rather than commissioning a closed list of designers, the open-call approach was chosen intentionally. It reflects the platform’s commitment to inclusivity, diversity of perspective, and the discovery of new voices. By removing style restrictions and offering conceptual themes instead of specific prompts, the call encouraged designers to bring their own visual language and cultural context to the work.

This strategy also reinforces the idea of poster design as authorship. It positions the platform not just as a showcase of polished work, but as a participatory space where interpretation, experimentation, and critical reflection are valued. The selection process prioritized originality, thematic clarity, and emotional impact—resulting in a collection that is both varied in form and unified in purpose.
